#Talking5G with Nick Wiggin, DCMS Market Engagement Lead
Nick joins us to talk us through the benefits of 5G and the Digital Connectivity Infrastructure Accelerator (DCIA).
The DCIA programme explores how those involved in the use of publicly owned infrastructure assets; such as street lamps, bus shelters and more, can support the roll out of advanced wireless connectivity. This will help accelerate the rollout of advanced wireless networks, including 5G, which will ultimately bring benefits to the UK economy and communities across the country.
In this #Talking5G video, Nick explains how the programme will speed up the deployment of mobile networks, including 5G, ultimately supporting digital inclusion in communities across the UK.
When asked ‘How can the transactions between public sector asset owners and telecommunications companies improve?’ Nick answered: “ One of the ways we think this can be improved is to digitalise and streamline the processes involved in telecom site acquisitions.”
Explaining how we can benefit from the DCIA pilot’s learnings, Nick said that at DCMS is investing in the production of tools, guidance material, and a schedule of events and workshops to engage with as many organisations as possible. It is important to DCMS that the learnings from the DCIA programme are spread as broadly as possible.
