Today (4 April), new planning laws come into force that are designed to assist the rollout of mobile network infrastructure so that mobile network operators can extend and enhance coverage across the whole of the UK.

These new laws will:

• Help mobile operators to extend and enhance mobile coverage more rapidly across the whole of the UK
• Assist deployment of the Shared Rural Network and 5G
• Make the sharing of infrastructure between operators easier and boost signals on roads
• Maintain protections to preserve rural scenery
