#MeetTheChampions With Anne McLister, Glasgow City Council
As part of the #MeetTheChampions series, this week we caught up with Anne McLister, Head of Digital Economy at Glasgow City Council.
Anne shares her expertise around infrastructure, the importance of her role as a Digital Connectivity Champion and the success surrounding digital strategies now in place in Glasgow.
Anne further explains that digital technology infrastructure underpins almost every aspect of modern life, from work to healthcare and education. It is the essential foundation that is required to provide the UK with total digital inclusivity.
Anne reiterates the vital role that Digital Champions can play in engaging with the telecommunications industry so that mobile infrastructure can be successfully deployed to assist in maximising investment opportunities within the city. In addition, this will have a significant impact on eliminating digital exclusivity across the UK.
The success of Glasgow's digital strategy has resulted in the city having 5G coverage from all four mobile network operators, helping to provide most of the population with improved digital connectivity.
“Strategic engagement by the Council with industry clearly encourages investment. Operational activity, facilitated by the Telecoms Unit has resulted in faster and increasing investment.”
