Budget Response: Shared Rural Network central to ‘Getting it Done.’

Budget Shared Rural Network

The Chancellor’s Budget put infrastructure at the centre of his strategy to ‘getting it done’, and reaffirmed that the Government would match industry funding on the Shared Rural Network to bring the total investment in the programme to £1 billion.

The mobile industry stands ready to help in building mobile Britain and through the Shared Rural Network and ongoing 4G upgrades and 5G deployments we will be enhancing and extending mobile coverage countrywide.

Commenting on the Budget, Hamish MacLeod, Director of Mobile UK, said:

“We welcome the Government’s matched investment in the Shared Rural Network and its commitment to work with the industry to extend significantly rural coverage across the UK. Alongside the industry’s continued investment in 4G upgrades and the deployment of 5G, we are truly building mobile Britain.”
