Base station

A base station is a standalone site. Most commonly a lattice tower, that is able to broadcast a mobile signal over a wider area. They are more commonly found in rural areas where there are no existing buildings and there is a requirement to broadcast over a much larger area. Base stations can also host multiple radio antennae from more than one operator providing coverage from several mobile companies.

Mobile tower

A mobile tower is a self-contained mobile site, most commonly a lattice tower, that is able to broadcast a mobile signal over a wider area. These are particularly suitable in rural areas. They are more commonly found in rural areas where there are no existing buildings and a requirement to broadcast over a much larger area. Mobile Towers can also host multiple radio antennae from more than one operator providing coverage from several mobile companies, but will typically be taller in this instance, as an additional set of antennas will require several metres more space higher than a single operator site.
